The Obama administration has been in intense negotiations with Iran concerning their nuclear weapons program. There has been political push back questioning whether the United States can trust Iran. But to what extent do US citizens really know the Iranians citizens?

#tokfriday: Ethics, the #deathpenalty, and Firing Squads


The State of Utah recently signed a bill bringing back the possibility of death by firing squad as a form of capital punishment. This decision comes on the heels of numerous "botched" executions involving new lethal injection drugs, most notably in Oklahoma, Ohio, and Arizona. State are trying new formulas (and possibly new old ways, like firing squads) because pharmaceutical companies are refusing to associate their drugs with capital punishment.

#tokfriday: Faith, Religious Knowledge, #RFRA, and Religious Freedom


By passing a "Religious Freedom" law, called Religious Freedom Restoration Acts, Indiana recently joined 18 other states and the Federal US Government in adopting variations of such laws. This past week the Indiana version came under intense scrutiny from the press and Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LBGT) groups because the state lacked provisions to protect the LGBT community from discrimination.
